What Carriers Are Doing – Medical

Following is a catalog of carrier COVID-19 resources. The key coverage provisions and procedural actions for each carrier have been summarized for quick reference.

Aetna • From now until June 4, 2020, Aetna will offer zero copay telehealth visits for any reason. • Aetna is waiving early refill limits on 30- day prescription maintenance medications. • Aetna will allow furloughed employees (or those with reduced hours) to stay on the plan, as long as premium is paid and the method is not discriminatory. Anthem • Special open enrollment period available through April 3, 2020 for employees in fully insured small and large groups who previously waived participation in employer-sponsored plans. State eligibility guidelines will apply. ASO groups decide whether they want to offer or not. • Through June 14, 2020, Anthem Blue Cross will offer zero copay telehealth visits for any reason through their preferred virtual visit provider LiveHealth Online. • Anthem will allow furloughed employees (or those with reduced hours) to stay on the plan, as long as premium is paid and the method is not discriminatory, through May 31, 2020. Those that are re- hired on or before May 31, 2020 will not be subject to any new eligibility waiting periods.

Blue Shield • Through May 31, 2020, Blue Shield of California will offer zero copay telehealth visits for any reason through their preferred virtual visit provider Teladoc. • Blue Shield will waive early refill limits on 30-day prescription maintenance medications. This allows employees to refill prescriptions early for any reason. • Blue Shield will allow furloughed employees (or those with reduced hours) to stay on the plan, as long as premium is paid and the method is not discriminatory, in accordance with the employer’s policy provisions. Cigna • Cigna will allow furloughed employees (or those with reduced hours) to stay on the plan, as long as premium is paid and the method is not discriminatory. • Cigna is offering free home delivery of up to 90-day supplies for prescription maintenance medications available through the Express Scripts Pharmacy and 24/7 access to a pharmacist.
