Dear Clients and Friends,
The COVID-19 pandemic stormed the world in 2020. Pain and suffering are a reality for so very many. Fear and concern lurk in the shadows of daily life for most. But learning and growth opportunities also abound. And inspiration and even hope shine through as we hear stories of people coming together, taking care of each other, and committing themselves to treating those affected by this disease.
Much has been written about living through these unprecedented times. Among our favorites are the words written by United Airlines CEO, Oscar Munoz. He writes:
“The response to this crisis has been extraordinary, as much for what it has required from our society as for what it has revealed of us as a people.
Far from causing division and discord, this crisis and the social distancing it has required has allowed us to witness something profound and moving about ourselves: our fond and deeply felt wish to be connected with one another.” The connection of which Munoz speaks is powerful and real. We have seen it in our employees as they have rallied in their homes with children afoot to continue to serve our clients. We have seen it in our clients as they work to balance the desire for business-as-usual with the profound understanding that nothing about this is usual for employees or their families. We have seen it in our world as people have come together to support one another. It is these real and thoughtful connections that will carry us forward and make us a stronger people in the future.
