Carrier Response to COVID-19
Insurance carriers are moving quickly to respond to COVID-19 demands and to provide meaningful resources for employers and employees alike. Definitive decisions and swift action have been necessary to clarify policy/contract changes, implementation design, and communication plans in each of the following areas:
• Implementation of free COVID-19 testing and diagnosis • Option to implement free telehealth services • Process for coverage of testing and telehealth
• Proactively offering special enrollment periods, confirming process, and timeline • Confirming special policy extensions in the event of employee furloughs and leaves • Offering an extended premium grace period
In addition, each carrier has been furiously drafting documentation to employers and consultants alike to keep them abreast of the latest decisions and resources.
